As we wind down the last day of school this year, here is a brief update on our building project: Lark School is currently being abated (removal of asbestos) preparing it for demolition. The abatement crew that is at work there now is likely to be moved to Olney Elementary in a week or so to begin abating there because the Olney tear down impacts the new school completion the most. This will put Lark's abatement on hold for awhile because it does not impact our operations schedule. Once Olney is abated, the crew will return to Lark and finish it up prior to demo. As a part of the demolition process at all three buildings scheduled for demolition this Summer and Fall, the school district will make bricks from the sites available to our community members. Additionally, the school and the city have agreed to a purchase agreement for the Lark School property and after demolition, the property will be transferred to the city to become a part of Brentwood Park. As part of that agreement, the city plans to erect a suitable monument or signage to recognize the space as the Lark School site. Have a great Summer! We can't wait to begin the new school year on September 5, 2017 in the new school!
