Senior Year Timeline
(August- December)
v Narrow your list of colleges to apply to
Visit campus—ask the office for a Campus Visit Form and complete ONE WEEK BEFORE the visit
· Attend college admission presentations—sign up for the presentation and get a pass from the front desk in the office
· Attend local college fairs
v Register to take the ACT/SAT again in October
· Revise list of schools you want scores sent to
· Code 9999 for NCAA Clearinghouse
v Gather admission applications
· Ask Mrs. Reid for application or apply online
· Remember the application fee
· Request your official high school transcript from Mrs. Reid (she will not be notified when you apply online)
· Complete essay requirements
· Complete Student Information Sheet and give it to individuals who you are asking for a letter of recommendation from at least 2 weeks ahead of time
· Apply for early action or early decision if so desired
v Submit your applications before Thanksgiving
· Pay attention to College/University deadlines
· Type or print legibly
· Complete additional scholarship and Honors Program application before deadlines
· Keep copies of everything you send
(January- June)
v Complete and submit your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by early March
· FAFSA form is available online January 1 at www.fafsa.ed.gov
v Watch the mail for financial aid award letters in April
· Compare cost of attendance and financial aid packages between schools
· Accept the financial aid package
· Decline acceptance at the schools you choose not to attend
